"With bombing victims still dying, it’s a somber Christmas for Egypt’s Christians" by: Sudarsan Raghavan of The Washington Post - Jan.7 (Click here to read full article)
To summarize this article, bombing victims have been dying making Egypt's christian's have a somber Christmas. Instead of celebrating the holiday, the christians went to churches to attend a somber service. The bombing happened inside a church. It initially killed 25 people, and injred 49. Since the initial bombing, 3 have died in the past week. It was the deadliest attack on Egypt's christians in recent years. People from other churches have said that they've gotten threats after the bombing.
My thoughts on the article are that it's really sad and unfortunate for this to have happened during Christmas time, ruining christian's holiday. It's even more sad that this happened inside a church, a place of worship, a safehaven for when christians feel threatened. I also think that there should be some level of security added to the entrance of churches, especially with the continued threats to other churches.
This ties into culture because it's part of the attacker's religion to feel the need to do this, as if they're trying to cleanse the land of these minorities. Also, the overall culture of the country tends to overshadow the christian community, making them feel threatned in their everday life.
